The Ideal Plaza: a community space for Cologne, designed across four nationalities

4countries represented: France, Italy, Portugal, Germany- 1
Context
A Blended Intensive Programme under Erasmus+ in Cologne brought together master's students from France, Italy, Portugal and Germany, from urban planning, architecture, design and social sciences. The subject: rethink a community space in the Liebig district. The whole project ran in English.

What I did
I first coordinated the team's communication. When the work moved online, I ended up as the de facto team lead: that is the phase where coordination costs the most, across time zones, work cultures and disciplines. I organized the meetings, the shared workspace and the follow-up of the sub-teams.
We followed the Double Diamond with a full service design: personas, user journeys and a service blueprint, with sustainability and inclusion as starting criteria.

What came out of it
A concept, "The Ideal Plaza", a sustainable and inclusive public square, from the field diagnosis to the recommendations, presented to an international jury along with a report. What I keep from it is mostly running an intercultural team remotely, and working in English for four months.
